Winterflood New Website Photographer – London Offices and Staff Members
Winterflood Securities in London needed a new website photographer to provide a full set of photographs for their site which was under construction.
Arranging the photography
Piranha’s photographer needed to create meeting scenarios with a backdrop of the trading desks, so furniture was moved and lighting solutions were worked out for the best advantage.
Use of roof terrace
The company also have a superb roof terrace with views over Cannon Street, the Thames and beyond so we took a series of images and then afterwards ‘stitched’ these together to create a dramatic panorama.
This photograph could then be used in a ‘letterbox’ shape on the page. This design is used widely for banner images on websites.
Business portraits
The business also needed environmental portraits to show a sense of place within their modern offices. The portrait photographs were taken employing various backdrops but making sure the same look and feel for all the images was maintained.
The timings were all to a strict schedule so that no time was wasted but equally there was enough time for setup and adjustment. The staff involved in the photo shoots had to be briefed so that we could ensure they brought the right props with them and therefore create the desired look and feel to the images.
The client was very happy with the quality and range of photographs Piranha achieved over the days of photography and they are widely used in press releases, marketing materials and on the website.
Background to the photography brief
Piranha Photography attended Winterflood’s City of London offices over a number of days to generate a library of new fresh photographs.
The scope of the new website photography ranged from views over the City and St Paul’s from the company’s terrace, through to a full set of new staff portraits and office photography of the team working on the trading floor.
Because of the brief, the composition and placement of the photographic elements within the image had to be considered beforehand. The size and shape of the design for the website meant that several photographs need to be taken with the ‘letterbox’ long, thin shape in mind so that there would still be space within the image for the type to appear. This style of photograph needs careful planning and consideration so that people can be positioned in the frame and create a successful final photograph for the designers. The exterior panorama’s had to be taken at different times of day to ensure all the major landmarks were lit by sunshine.
The team portraits were all taken with the same look and feel so that they would form a set on the website pages, and were also later used to supply to publications when needed to run alongside a press story.
